Our Foods is Our Identity

Sukabumi is one of many cities in west java, like the other country Sukabumi has its own charactristics and culinary is one of them. Sukabumi has several typical foods like bandros ata, mochi, and rangginang Jampang as an iconic food.
First is bandros, it is one of many typical food in west java. There are several type of bandros in west java such as salty and sweet, but in Sukabumi sweet bandros are the most popular one. This traditional cake are made from rice flour, suji leaf, grated coconut and coconut milk. Mostly this cake served with sugar sprinkles and a good friend with a cup of sweet warm tea or coffee.
Sukabumi has its own characteristics on their bandros. Unlike most bandros in West Java, bandros Sukabumi use coconut meat wich is cut into pieces rather than shredded. Thus giving the bandros a denser texture and we can find bandros like this only in Bandros Ata shop. 
Next is moci from sukabumi, who doesn’t know the snacks that are often used as souvenirs when going to Sukabumi . Moci cake has a round shape, studded with flour and feels chewy when eaten. Mostly this cake has a sweet taste and use green beans as the filling, because of the growing culinary industry and innovation now mochi has a variety of flavors
For those who want to buy fresh moci directly from the seller we can find it in the Kaswari alley. There are five producers and sellers of moci that carry different trademarks in Kaswari alley such as Lampion, Mahkota, Putra Mandiri, Bakat jaya, and Kharisma. Lampion is the on that has the most customers.
Rengginang is the last food we will discuss. rengginang or crackers made from rice is a traditional food that is very common in West Java. This food can be made at home and the ingredients are quit simple enough we can use new or leftover rice and renginang Jampang is quite special because of the strong flavor of the herbs or spices.
After discussing some of these foods we realize that from just one small city we already have a lot of foods or its own characteristics what about all cities in this county?, of course very much. But this characteristics can be lost, forgotten, or even taken if we as citizens do not preserve and protect it. Then from now on don’t be ashamed to bring up local culture because that our identity.
